Windows Vista?

Just bought a laptop that has Vista installed. I know that most of the MMO/SEO software is somewhat homebrew.

Is there any software that doesn't work with Vista? (keyword / SEO elite, BMD, XSitePro2 etc.)

I'm having a tough time convincing myself to ditch XP.

I don't know what software won't run on vista, but from what I've heard Vista is a good system now that service pack 1 has been released. So if it will run everything don't be afraid of it.

I ran into this problem when trying to run some old XP only software on my Visa PC. The solution, I use is running a Virtual XP Machine under Vista. I use VMware, and an old XP install disk I have. Works like a charm, and is free. Check it out here http://www.vmware.com/products/player/

Hey thanks, forgot about VMware. I toyed with a script a while ago that I ran in a virtual window machine. It needed control of the mouse and keyboard so I gave it it's own virtual computer. I guess if worst come to worst I can always install it again. I decided to go with Vista so I'll post updates if I ever find a program that doesn't work.

BMD requires that you run it with full admin privileges.

SEO and Keyword Elite seem to do OK, 'as is'.

The main thing that you have to watch out for are applications that write to their own program directory. This is taboo by default under Vista. Applications are supposed to write their working data files to their own application data file sandbox location but 8 out of 10 Windows programmers are clueless about this requirement. Giving such programs, like BMD, full admin access usually allows them to work correctly.
