Is sandboxed when Google doesn't have you in search results (thats what I thought) or when google locks your blogger blog as spam etc. ?

Right first time - the sandbox is where already indexed blogs go if google thinks they may be spam. Its a system they use to stop spammers getting into the SERPs with new sites.

It doesn't mean you are spam, but its just a part of the process - sometimes you get away with it scott free depending upon the niche you're in.

If you create a blog about payday loans for instance, expect to be seeing a lot of sand quickly and spending a long time in there! :?

Does the whole site get sandboxed, I have a site that Ive added a bunch of articles, but I want to add articles on another subject, so say we have 100 articles on say fitness, then add say another 100 on say car maintenance, say google is watching the site, like its given an initial rush of traffic, then its whipped it away, if I add the new set of articles on another subject, will it give that initial push of traffic, or is the whole site sandboxed from the first lot of articles, so adding a load more on your new category will not change anything, the whole site is now in the sandbox.

Amen-Ra,

I wrote this article about it back in March that might answer some of your questions:

Hi guys, just want to let you know that i too have been in the sandbox. I created a niche blog back in may, and followed the exact methods that Griz has taught, even down to the font size and colours. Domain name has the keywords in there as well. I have posted about 36 pages of keyword rich content, and the posts are very long. Articles have also been wrote for numerous posts and sent to ezine articles and a couple of other article sites. Everything by the book. Each post contains my primary keyword and links back to the homepage.
Now, up until a month ago i did not rank for anything, absolutely nothing, not even long tail keywords. All my pages had been indexed by google, so i now have 36 indexed pages in g. One month ago it was like, bang!! I looked at my stats and low and behold, i was getting hits for long tail keywords, quite a few as well. This was probably down to the sheer amount of content in the posts no doubt. As it stands today, i am getting about 200 unique visitors per day from google, and all from long tail keywords.
I still do not rank for my main keyword, which google adsense tool tells me has 40,000 searches per month. A lot more work is needed to get ranked for this keyword, ie backlinks, the anchored kind! I can only guess how much traffic i will start to see if i get some backlinks. I suppose this story really highlights what Griz tells us, which is that content will get you so far, ie lots of long tail hits, but to get to the real traffic, you need to rank higher, and the only way to join the traffic party is to get backlinks. Content, and on page SEO are only a small part of it.
I made this blog as a sort of test for myself, i never really did the homework as to how profitable this niche was, or could be. My mistake, i just chose something i was interested in, which helps when you write long posts. I don't care if anyone reads the content, just the click on the adsense ads will do for me, and it's positioned right where it should be.
Sorry for the long post, but i just wanted to let you know that if you get off your arse, and put into action what Griz and Terry explain, then you can do this. Don't be afraid to try things out, and don't be afraid of some hard work because things don't happen to people who wait around expecting a free ride to riches. Good luck everyone in whatever you are all doing, and never give up, ever. I will not stop until i get on that first page for my main keyword.

Just wanted to add a few things i have found out in the last couple of weeks by checking my stats. I have told you i am getting about 200 visitors with long tail keywords, and after checking the keywords people are using to find my site, i have noticed a little trend. About 20 people every day are using the same kind of product related keywords, and they all end up on one of my pages, as this page is related to their searches. At the moment i only have adsense adverts on my blog, and i can see that some of these ads do not cater for these 20 specific visitors. After doing a bit of research i have found the perfect affiliate store to cater for this specific product.

As an example, let's say you build a website or blog all about plasma tv's. You have 20-30 pages on the different makes and models of plasma tv's. With enough content you will rank for the long tail variants of different plasma tv's and models, eg, panasonic viera hdd 3450. If you see that 20 people every day are typing in this exact model, then you know that they are ready to buy. They have already done their research, and that web surfing has led to them knowing the exact type of plasma tv they want. Other sites have done the work for you. And you know this because the stats are telling you this.

Now all you need to do is cater for these people by sending them to the exact place where they can buy this product, with a little bit of final encouragment from what you write about, ie, this plasma tv is worth it.

This is what i have found out. I am going to monetise this blog post to cater for these people, with the potential of 20 affiliate sales per day, from only 200 visitors a day at the moment. There are other trends appearing every day, ie, other specific keyword related product names which i will also try to capitalise on in the future. What i am trying to say is, look at the stats and work on them to your advantage. Hope this helps.
